Issues to Avoid When Making a Banner For Your Website
So you’re thinking : “I want to create a banner for my website - I know how (there are many free banner makers online), but I need to know what kind of message to put on it”.
Most people place a banner as the “header” area of their website. It should be used as something that tells the immediate visitor what the site is about.
Some people get too clever and put way too much information on there which puts people off. Others create “fat” headers/banners that push content way too far down the page, others create banners that are too big in file size so people don’t see them load until 20 seconds later.
My advice is to keep it simple. Keep the banner small in both physical size and file size. Say what your site is about in 4-8 words as a strapline under the main title.
