Occupational therapy assessment experts making your life easier
An interesting article I discovered in August 2008’s copy of OTC was about a seminar given by Elizabeth Waterman from Jacqueline Webb and Company Occupational therapy assessment experts, about an introduction to different ways of working outside of the Statutory sector. Useful advice for improving report-writing techniques, which are essential to working in the medico-legal field as a care expert, were looked at.
The company essentially provides a service to solicitors and insurers and provides the assessment skills of its therapists to assess people who have been hurt through no fault of their own and are claiming compensation. The holistic assessment encompasses past and future care requirements, transport, equipment and housing needs.
The thing I thought was interesting about the seminar was that it viewed the course of action from the initial assessment of the hurt party through to being an expert witness at court.
Attendees were asked to seize every chance to refine their report writing skills by looking for opportunities to practise and develop a professional written style, as long detailed reports need to be both factually correct as well as an interesting read. The chief areas highlighted by the seminar were logical presentation, use of language, structuring of the report and professional approach. If you would like to download the A-Z of report writing that was written specifically for the seminar you can download it from Jacqueline Webb and Co’s website along with other interesting topics about the consultancy role
