Trying to Figure Out where to Sell Gold

I have heard commercial on the radio and TV about selling old and broken gold jewelry.  I never gave this much thought until recently.  My car broke down a few days ago and is in the repair shop.  The mechanic called with some really bad news.  The car needs a new transmission.  I have no choice but to have it replaced since I am still making payments on the car.  I would like to sell some of my gold jewelry to help pay for this repair.  I would like to find out where to sell gold locally if at all possible.  If I can’t find a buyer locally I will call one of these places I have seen advertised.
