Mp3 Music Download or CD - Which is Better?
The increased popularity toward the mp3 music download as opposed to actually listening to music on CD’s has caused a huge decrease in CD sales over the past several years. So, which is better?
To answer that question, one would have to know what is most important to the listener, portability or sonic quality. The overall sound quality of a physical CD is far superior to an mp3. A typical CD song wav file is usually in the 50 MB range, where a standard 128 kbs mp3 is compressed down to less than 4 MB. That’s a huge difference, which is really noticeable in sound tests. Of course, the sound quality difference may not mean a hill of beans if the listener wants access to their music on the go.
