Giving an Acoustic Guitar Lesson Kept Him Out Of Jail
I had a friend once who had the most peculiar judgment handed down to him by a district judge. He had been accused of buying gas with the express intention of not paying. Because he was a local celebrity in a rock band, the judge ordered him to perform community service in the form of giving an acoustic guitar lesson to whoever wanted one in the city community center, every Thursday night, for six months. It turned out to be not such a bad punishment, because that is where he met his future wife. And the guy who owned the gas station ended up being the best man at their wedding.
